It is best ridden from the south (Italian) side - the north side is a very big climb indeed and has long traffic-ridden enclosed galleries - OK as a descent but not so good as a climb
However the summit area is very beautiful, and quiet, thanks to a long tunnel which takes most of the motorised traffic
