Very high on our list of passes we want to see.
Its a very big climb from either side, and is especially notorious for the many tunnels near Bolzano on the south side, where good lights are strongly recommended.
The north side, where it links up with Jaufenpass and Timmelsjoch, is tough country indeed.
Györgyi adds:
"From the north the Passo Pennes is a very steep (average 8,7%) climb. The first half goes
in the forest, but a few times there are nice views towards the Austrian border and to
the east. For fit people it can be recommended, while the nature and the
views are beautiful, and the traffic is very light."
