Chartreuse
 
We crossed this attractive and dramatic area in wet, cloudy conditions, so we saw very little of the best scenery - all we saw was forest, the high rocky peaks were all around us but hidden in cloud.

These pictures are on the Col de Cucheron, 1139m, an easy pass in the centre of this area.

Further south lies the Col de Porte, 1326m, which is a very tough climb via any one of 3 routes from the South, starting near Grenoble.

The whole area is similar to the Vercors, which lies just to the south, but more compact, greener and with even tougher climbs.
