This is the best road into the Alps from the coast around Nice, avoiding major valley-bottom roads. It overlooks the rather depressing valley of the Var for quite a long time, but offers great views of the mountains as well. Once away from that valley, it crosses very quiet country on what is really a very easy road, considering it is cutting across the grain of the land.
