A very steep meadow pass, and easily avoided, it lies just south of Stans, near Lucerne.
Good views southwards towards the high mountains round Sustenpass, but a remarkable feature is the open-air chapel shown on the title page, which is situated in the trees middle right in this shot.
A very calming place for a short stop during a very steep climb - and while here, note the stone plaque which documents several dates on which the Virgin Mary has appeared here.
